Why Choose Razor?

Why is it important to select the right company when you are considering a career change?  In a nutshell – quality, reputation, professionalism, and shared values are vital to any profitable business relationship.  That’s the kind of people we are, and that’s the kind of people we want.

Our Background:

Razor Enterprises, Inc., is a family owned and operated Texas corporation founded in 1986 by Mike and Pete Cahoon, who have a combined experience of more than 40 years in the construction industry. The Cahoon's commitment to excellence is demonstrated by their development of several innovative construction related products and systems for which patents have been granted or are now pending.

From 1986 through the present, Razor’s construction experience has included well in excess of 110,000 units all over the United States, including residential, commercial, multi-family and government sector contracts.  Razor’s construction capabilities include all aspects of framing; all types of siding installation (vinyl, Hardi-plank, etc.); custom metal work; and all types of roofing, including composition, tile, single-ply, built-up, and standing seam metal roofing. In addition to Razor’s corporate offices in Brenham, Texas, Razor has offices in Bluffton, SC near Hilton Head Island, where Razor has built over 2,000 homes and apartments since 1995.

In 1997, due to the phenomenal growth of Razor’s construction operations, the Cahoon’s opened Razor Component Systems, Inc. (RCS), a fully automated, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility encompassing three separate plant operations, located on a 26 acre complex in Ridgeland, SC.  In addition to providing top quality truss and wall components for Razor’s own construction needs, the RCS plant has a full fleet of trucks for the shipment of manufactured components to builders and projects across the country.

Our  Philosophy:

Razor’s philosophy is simple and our purpose is clear.  Razor seeks to maintain a competitive edge and provide rewarding, long-term employment for our people by working toward constant improvement in product, service, value and relationships. Razor rejects the commonly accepted levels of delays, mistakes, defective materials and poor workmanship that have hurt the construction industry as a whole.  We strive to achieve these objectives through a structured process of continuous quality review and expert supervision at every level.

Our Belief and Commitment to Quality:

To quote from our Mission Statement, “Excellence is Razor’s highest priority”.  What this means is that Razor is committed to excellence in every facet of our business.  Razor complies with the highest professional standards, offers the highest quality materials, and conforms to the highest level of quality in design, manufacture, workmanship and service.

Our Belief in Providing the Best Tools and Equipment to Our Employees:

Razor/RCS endeavors to stay on the cutting edge of technology with state-of-the-art computerized estimating, design and purchasing systems, in order to ensure full accountability.  Razor uses the best tools and equipment available, in order to provide the highest levels of safety and performance for all of our valued employees - from our skilled craftspeople, to our administrative support personnel, to our supervisors and managers.

Razor’s quest for constant improvement includes implementing modern training methods, providing opportunities for our employees to attend continuing education seminars, promoting pride of workmanship, and the old-fashioned notion of treating our employees, our customers, and our suppliers with the same respect we expect from them.

Our Reputation:
